So Grap Luva Came Thru The Other Day...

...with the ill Heavy D and The Boyz "Big Tyme" tour jacket... For those that dont know Graps (along with his big bro Pete Rock) cousin is HEAVY D. Mt. Vernon NY Stand up.

So anyway... Grap comes thru. We kickin it...playin joints n whatnot. Grap has some of the dopest stories ever about backnthe day when ish was just poppin around his way. (for instance the 1st time he saw sum1 officially smoke a blunt was when Hev took grap w/em over SLICK RICK's spot) so many memories of his fam he brought up....crazy.

When he came thru I had just finished touchin up a Marvin Gaye joint that I was tinkerin with the night b4. After the Kozby got kracked off (and a few sips of brew) Grap just wanted to lay sumthin down for HEV... NO way imma say no to that.
After i did a lil ruff mix he asked me..."You gonna put that up on "twitter"?" (meaning=you gonna put that up online?) I was like "Yeah. I can put it up if youre cool with it."

...so yeah Grap just lettin his cuz( & every1 else) know how he feels...

Heavy D "Dont Curse" (peep Grap at 2:02) right b4 CL's verse)

Thanks for sharing. RIP and peaceful journey to one of my favorite rappers to this day. I remember Hev just ripping songs like "The Basement" and "Who's the Man" The man had so much style and talent. It was a pleasure watching him grow as a recording artist and actor.

Yeah, thanks for the post Kev Brown! You're a very influential producer & I look up to you as a mentor for my growing production techniques! A lot of peeps don't know Pete & Grap were kin to Heavy D. Pete was always giving Hev props, as well as Grap! Heavy D brought a positive side to hip hop that everyone could vibe to & he will be missed for that! I heard (if this info is correct) that Pete Rock had just finished lacing some joints for Hev's "Blue Funk II". I don't know the truth to this, but Kev maybe you can shed some light on this. Also, I feel Pete Rock is going to come with some "T.R.O.Y." like heat to honor Heavy D kinda like he did for Trouble T-Roy. Heavy will be definitely be missed no doubt!

Thanks for sharing Kev. Being an old MV Native myself. I just remember always seeing Hev around Columbus and Lincoln Ave. I didn't go to MV HS, but a catholic school in New Roc.

I've told others how he use to like my cousin for a minute. But, besides that he was just a cool dude.

I also got to see the whole crew perform at a Halloween party at MV-HS. I believe it was either 85' or 86'. That was before all the fame and fortune he would come to enjoy.

Hev was definitely an influential part of what's known as HIP HOP golden era. Fortunately, he left us with great music to honor his legacy. I offer condolences to his family.

Peace...Netm8kr
